Vision Statement:
Our shared vision includes attaining the highest possible outcomes for all our children, where inclusion of all learners is a central goal. We seek to provide all our learners with the best possible start to life and we will aim to act as a conduit for the necessary support services wherever possible. We embrace the principles of 'Every Child Matters' and extended services and will work towards these goals. Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship (PSHE & C) will be at the heart of our school. Children will thrive in a secure and caring atmosphere where high standards of behaviour, social manners and academic achievement are paramount. We will try to ensure that all our children leave school with a positive disposition for learning so that they will become life long learners. We will maintain a broad and balanced curriculum and will always be keen to enrich this curriculum further.
We will have a motivated and skilful workforce that embraces change positively, thus equipping our school for learning in the 21st century. To do this we will develop the potential of all our staff by providing high quality training for teaching and all support staff. Three of our teachers have been asked to support work of the LA advisory staff in relation to ICT, RE and outdoor provision. We are committed to working together and through wider networks to learn from each other and share best practice. We have been involved with a national project working with the Qualifications & Curriculum Agency (QCA) entitled Physical Education & School Sport (PESS). At a local level, we have been involved with our education authority, working through the Primary Leadership Programme (PLP) and the Quality in Learning and Teaching (QUiLT) quality mark.
We welcome external views of our school and as such we will actively seek to acquire quality marks to kite mark our achievements. We are now recognised as a leading school in the authority in the teaching and learning of ICT. We have obtained the NAACE and ICT quality marks and have become a host school for the Strategic Leadership in ICT (SLICT) course. We have also been recognised both within and beyond the LA for our outside provision for the Foundation Stage and the provision provided for all children during lunchtime.
We embrace the principles of wrap-around child care from 8am to 6pm and we will provide quality provision. We will run a breakfast club which focuses upon being active, providing a nutritious breakfast and study support and we also have a number of extra-curricular clubs either run by ourselves or by experts within our local community. We will also provide a private child care facility which will operate every school day including INSET and holidays. Our services have been extended further by becoming a Gateway Centre for the under fives.
We aim to be viewed as a learning hub for our local community. We have been a venue for the LA Family Learning programme but looking ahead, we would like to extend this provision for wider local community learning.
Our last Ofsted in February 2008 graded the school as 'outstanding'. We aim to maintain this grade indefinitely. |
